return. We haven‘t been able to have a drink together despite knowing each other for so long. Let‘s
drink to our heart‘s content once you get back.”

James said smilingly. Then, he got on the helicopter. “Goodbye, sir!” The soldiers‘ voices rang in
unison. “We wish you the best on the battlefield and await your triumphant return.”

The helicopter lifted off. Looking at the city beneath him, James felt wistful. “I wonder if I can return
alive.”



He murmured silently.

The situation at the Southern Plains was much worse than he anticipated. It was the most critical it had
been in decades.

The three million–strong army of the twenty–eight nations had broken through Southern Plains City. It
would be rather difficult to retake the conquered lands and expel the enemy forces.

The war could rage on for years. Looking at the city landscape slowly disappearing from his view,
James was lost in contemplation.

Soon, the helicopter arrived in Lavender Town at the Southern Plains.

This was a city on the border. Now that the Black Dragon army had retreated from Southern Plains
City, it entrenched itself in Lavender Town to redeploy and reorganize its fighting force.
