The two friends wanted to dance and tried to bring her along, but she waved. “No, you go ahead.”
“Wait for us here then.” They walked to the dance floor.
Leah drank all
the beer on the bar top and ordered more beer, and continued drinking to numb herself. However, no m
atter how much she drank, her mind still went to Zephir.
Her heart ached terribly.
Leah stumbled toward the ladies‘ room and started throwing up when she got to the toilet. She then sta
rted crying.

up her heels. “Wait.”

ealthy families would be interested in men like you.”
The man immediately looked upset and tried to grab the shoes, but the other man grabbed his wrist an
d twisted it. The man yelled out in pain and sobered up.
The other man who was holding Leah could tell that this man wasn’t someone they could mess with, so
he pushed her away and ran. Leah fell to the floor.
The man whose wrist was twisted scuttled away too.
Morrison Shaw walked toward Leah, bent down, and put her shoes back on. “Are you awake, lady?”Leah looked up, and her head was still spinning. Her
