“If the commander is still alive…” This thought frightened the king and the elders. They were mere insects who wouldn’t dare to breathe loudly in her presence.
“Hmph, we drop it this time.” The king snorted since they might need to ask the Chu for help in the future.
“They rarely send people here so it doesn’t matter who it is, we should still play the role of a good host. We don’t lose anything anyway.” The first elder saw the tension dispersing so he suggested.
“Elders, state your opinion.” The king said.
“The Chu was out of line but let us be open-minded. Why stoop slow and make life difficult for a mortal? The world would laugh at us.” The elders put aside their grievances.
“It is decided then.” The king said and chose to welcome Li Qiye’s group.
Most importantly, it appeared Edge Mountain Crone and Incense Daoist were also part of the group. The mortal was one thing but they needed to entertain these two guests, especially the old demon.
“Seniors, we apologize for the late reception despite your long journey.” The king and the elders bowed.
“We are here with the young noble.” The old demon introduced Li Qiye first.
All eyes were on him and they confirmed his mortal status. Annoyance immediately surfaced and this was rather understandable. Sending an ordinary mortal in this scenario was a blatant insult.
“A young disciple from the Chu, I see. Who is your master?” The king had no desire to speak with a mortal so his tone became less polite.
“I’m just someone with nothing to do, just taking a look since fate brought me here.” Li Qiye smiled.
His casual attitude infuriated the group even more. In their eyes, a mortal visiting and being received by them was the greatest honor - the accumulation of good deeds and karma for generations. If he weren’t trembling anxiously, he should be respectful.
“Taking a look at what?” The king was visibly unhappy.
“I heard Insane Court has fallen so I’m here to see its unfilial descendants.” Li Qiye smiled.
Upon hearing this, the king and the elders’ expression became ugly. Bringing this topic was nothing short of slapping their faces.
Their glorious past was a taboo topic yet this mortal spoke in such an arrogant manner.
“Watch your mouth here!” An elder shouted. This already showed enough patience since another cultivator could have slapped this mortal’s head into pieces for this transgression.

As the oldest ancestor of Resting Bull, she was far stronger than the elders and the kings. The latter had to channel their power to endure the pressure.

The others had no idea why she suddenly became angry since she had nothing to do with the Chu. If anything, the Chu was closer to their sect.
The whole thing didn’t make sense. It was one thing for her to not display courtesy toward them since she was a senior but why the mortal?

The group exchanged glances. Why would they need a mortal to be concerned about their business?
“Yes, of course.” The first elder, on the other hand, bowed and said: “The three of you are our esteemed guests, we apologize for the lack of hospitality. You all must be tired so please rest for now, we will make it up to you.”
His subservient act further infuriated his sect members.
The daoist noted this and shook his head disapprovingly: “Your group cannot discern fortunes from disasters. I fear for your future.”
“Hmph.” They couldn’t act out against this guest who was representing Heaven Calculating Observatory so they remained silent.
The first elder took the three away and arranged places for them to stay, leaving the angry group behind.
Once he came back, the king said indignantly: “First Elder, you are dampening our prestige to curry favors with some outsiders.”
“That is not my purpose, Sect Master. It’s just that we should exercise caution.” The first elder said.
