Chapter 28: Looking for a Miracle

In the end, the man couldn't do anything when Caroline refused to leave.

Two weeks passed and the two became closer than before.

They were always together like college sweethearts.

The man assured Caroline that he would be fine so the three of them slept together in the afternoon.

The following day, Caroline took her son for a walk outside and when she returned, she informed the
man of the baby's newfound knowledge.

Caroline woke up one morning with an uneasy and upset appetite.She quickly checked the calendar
and realized that her menstruation had already been pushed back a week.

Caroline grabbed her bag and searched for the pregnancy test stick that she hadn't used before.She
hurriedly went to the bathroom to take a test.

Soon after, her breathing froze.

The two bars clearly showed that she was pregnant.

The man in the study room appeared to have started to make plans for the future.

Over the phone, he warned his trusted employees to cooperate with Caroline the day she started
working with them.

He wanted to make sure that everything had been taken care of so that Caroline could work
harmoniously.

Caroline held the pregnancy test tightly in her hand.



Her breathing tightened as she couldn't express the excitement and pain in her heart.

She waited for the man to hung up then she silently walked towards him.

Caroline held his hand and looked at him expectantly, "For the sake of Charles and our unborn baby,
can you try it once? Believe in a miracle?"

The man was surprised.

He couldn't utter a word for a second then he repeated, "Unborn baby?"

"Yes."

Caroline placed the pregnancy test stick into his palm and said, "I'm pregnant.

The night we made love happened to bear fruit."

As the man heard that, he clenched the stick in his hand and his body trembled.

His eyes couldn't focus.

Caroline saw his reaction and her eyes started to water.

"Treat it as if I'm begging you, okay? I can't live without a husband and I don't want my children to live
without a father!"

After that, the room was clouded by a deafening silence.

Then, seconds after, the man stretched out his arm and pressed Caroline into his embrace.

Three days later, the man left their house early when Caroline hadn't gotten up yet.

His movements were too cautious and free of any sound that she did not notice him left at all.



When Caroline woke up, she found a note beside the bed.

It was a note from him that said, "Caroline, I'm going to look for a miracle.Sorry if I can't take you with
me.Take care of yourself and the baby.Don't wait for me"

Tears streamed down Caroline's cheeks when she read the note.

She knew that even though he did not bid her goodbye, his message was very likely a farewell.

Caroline stopped herself from crying even more because she had a baby in her tummy and a one-year-
old kid in her arms.

She reminded herself to be strong for herself and for her kids.

Soon after, she became a full-fledged employee of the company.

Coincidentally, the Windsor Corporation, which the man was in control of, happened to be a competitor
of the Stanley Corporation.

Nevertheless, everything seemed to have become extremely simple.

She went to work regularly and dealt with stressful situations that she had never dealt with before but
fortunately, the man had already planned things for her beforehand which helped her a lot.

In the blink of an eye, it had already been three years and within that time, the Windsor Corporation
managed to be the best in the industry which caused the defeat of the Stanley Corporation.

In that three years, Caroline had also gone to the prison to see Riane only to find out that she had
become a completely different person than she was before.

During that years as well, Caroline had become the mother of two babies.



Both her eldest son, Charles, and youngest daughter, Corinne, were already in kindergarten.

Right after work, she went to the kindergarten to pick her children up.

From afar, she saw how nicely Charles guided Corinne towards her.

Caroline's eyes suddenly turned red.

It had been three years since he left, and there had been no news of him.

Caroline thought that perhaps, he had completely left this world at some point already.

‘It was unfortunate that you hadn't had the chance to hug your daughter nor figure out that she looks
exactly like you”
