Chapter 1266 - The Two Faces Of Gu Mengmeng
Chapter 1266: The Two Faces Of Gu Mengmeng
The beast shook his head. “There were originally over 20 of us carrying these grapes over. But for some reason, a number of them suddenly cried out before running off…”
Gu Mengmeng chuckled. She didn’t say anything.
Thinking of how frightened Wabei was of her, it wasn’t too difficult to guess why those stray beasts had fled.
Gu Mengmeng coldly surveyed the group, who emitted no stray beast aura at all. Only then did she withdrew her own chilly aura. “Come back with me to Sauder to rest for the night before returning to Zacharias tomorrow. Tell Chixuan not to send stray beasts when delivering grapes next time.”
“Yes, Great Messenger.” The beasts nodded before turning around to lift up the large stone basins full of grapes.
With one look from Elvis, the wolves immediately went forth to carry the rest of the stone basins back.
The gang arrived with much energy and aggression but returned in a relaxed and cheerful mood.
They didn’t take the direct route back to the tribe but went toward a small stream. This was where Elvis had brought Gu Mengmeng to wash her bleeding nose. They had nearly relocated here because of that.
Having witnessed the grapes-washing process directed by Gu Mengmeng last year, Elvis and Lea automatically dove in the moment they arrived at the stream. After all, Fei Rui was not around and there was no way to use the triple-churn washing machine to wash the grapes. There was no choice but to manually wash the grapes one by one. Luckily a huge number of people had tagged along, saving them a lot of time.
Gu Mengmeng took off her animal skin boots and soaked her feet in the little stream. She sat on a rock to play with the water, while Gregory stood diagonally behind her, watching her.
How should he put this…
Her domineering presence when commanding those stray beasts was too outstanding. Even with the more powerful Beast King standing beside her, her brilliance did not diminish in the slightest.
She was so petite and fragile, but possessed an energy that could not be ignored.
It was as if she was the true ruler of this entire universe—of the heavens and the earth, and of all living creatures under the sun.
Gregory experienced a hallucinatory flash, whereby Gu Mengmeng appeared to be radiating light. She was so dazzling that he could not tear his eyes away. At that moment, he lost all sense of judgment. Apart from her face, everything else disappeared from sight.
For the past couple of weeks, Gu Mengmeng had always been a warm and gentle figure. Although he knew she possessed a huge amount of power, he never once detected the slightest sense of danger from her.
But just now, she had just raised one brow slightly and a dense murderous aura instantly permeated the surroundings, making one feel fear and strangely excited at the same time.
In contrast… she was now kicking the water with her bare feet and grinning like a kid.
“Gregory, do you want some to eat?” Gu Mengmeng asked. She plucked a grape from the bunch that Lea had just handed to her after washing. She stretched out her arm to offer the grape to him, only to find him lost in a trance. She couldn’t help smiling. “Hey, time to wake up.”
Gregory cleared his throat awkwardly and turned away. Nevertheless, he was unable to shift his gaze away from Gu Mengmeng’s face. He reached out to take the grape before saying in a hoarse voice, “Mmm, thanks.”
“Welcome.” Gu Mengmeng didn’t say anything more but just turned back to continue eating her own grapes. She paid no heed to Gregory’s earlier dazed look.
Gregory slipped the grape between his lips and the sweet juices filled his mouth.
He continued to stare at the back of Gu Mengmeng’s head. His lips curled up subconsciously as he thought: Mmm, very sweet.
