Nicole felt resigned as she looked at Zachary's gentle appearance. A bitter smile flashed across her face after she

closed the door.

After sitting quietly on her bed for a bit, she slowly rose to her feet and headed into the bathroom to wash up

before heading back to bed.

Perhaps it was because she had lost too much blood that she felt exhausted. The moment she lay in bed, her eyes

closed uncontrollably and she dozed off.

When Nicole woke up again, it was already slightly after 10.00AM the following day. However, she still felt exhausted

instead of fully energized after her sleep.

While she frailly leaned against the headrest, she rubbed her aching temples. She didn't expect such a serious side

effect from getting blood drawn out of her. She thought she could recover after a night's rest and didn't expect to

still feel so weak after sleeping for so long.

She reached for her phone on the nightstand and found that it was in silent mode. The screen showed a few missed

calls. Three were from Colton, while one was from an unfamiliar number.

After hesitating momentarily, Nicole ended up calling Colton.

The call was soon picked up and Colton immediately asked, "What's the matter? Are you feeling unwell?"

Nicole lowered her gaze, seemingly unwilling to tell him about how she was currently feeling. In the end, she gave a

brief answer. "I'm doing fine. Why did you call?"

Colton thought about it for a moment before explaining, "Madam Gould has woken up. She said she would like to

meet the person who saved her."

Frowning unconsciously, Nicole pondered for a moment before saying, "It's not a big deal, actually."

After a moment's silence, Colton chuckled. "The Wrenns are here as well. Since they already owe you, you should

come over and see if you can ask for a favor."

I wasn't being serious when saying that. What's more, I have enough money and a job, so there's nothing I need to

ask from the Wrenns. However, since Madam Gould has woken up, I should visit her.



At the thought of that, Nicole responded softly, "Alright."

"I'll come over and pick you up," Colton offered.

"There's no need." She didn't even think about it before rejecting his offer. "I'll ask Zach to send me over," she

added. "There's no need to trouble you, President Gardner."

When Colton heard her mention Zachary, his face fell but he wasn't upset. Instead, he chortled. "In that case, I'll

wait for you here."

He hung up after saying that.

At first, Nicole thought he would insist on coming over to pick her up, but his sudden generosity made her feel at a

loss. That being said, she didn't think much about it. Getting up, she headed to the bathroom to wash up before

going downstairs.

Meanwhile, Zachary and Hayden had woken up long ago. Nicole was afraid her pale complexion might worry them,

so she put on some lipstick before heading out to make herself look better.

She could smell the delicious fragrance of food when she came down the stairs. It seemed like breakfast was ready.

Hearing movement from the stairs, Zachary looked up and immediately got up to head inside the kitchen after

seeing Nicole come down the stairs.

He soon came out of the kitchen with a bowl of chowder in his hands.

"Here. Have some breakfast. I made some chicken and black bean chowder. Black beans are rich in iron."

Nicole didn't reject his offer and picked up her spoon to start eating.

Ever since Zachary's return, Alicia hadn't done much cooking as the man had taken up that task.

Although he was born into a wealthy family, he had great cooking skills and the food he made was even

comparable to the food served at a five-star restaurant.
