Chapter 148

Westchester City’s art gallery was located in the famous Art Haven. When Sylvia arrived at one of the
entrances to the gallery, she saw Simon. He was dressed in a suit. Although he was only a few years
older than her, with his bushy beard and unkempt hair, he looked like a man in his forties. Sylvia got out
of the car with Sherry’s help and waved at him. When Simon saw her sitting in a wheelchair, he was so
shocked that he ran over. He asked curiously, “Sylvia, what happened to your legs?”

Sylvia did not want to tell him about those bad memories, so she just said, “I accidentally broke them
and suffered a slight fracture. It’s no big deal.”

“If it’s nothing serious, then good.” Simon smiled and then said, “We’re not going in from this side.
Follow me. I’ll take you in through another entrance.”

“Sure.”

Sylvia and Sherry kept up with him. As soon as they left, a black sports car came from afar and parked
in the space near the entrance. Odell pushed open the car door and got out. Tara followed him out of
the car, quickly ran to his side, and intimately took his arm. “Odell, many people have already arrived.
Let’s go inside.” Odell hummed. Just as he was about to enter, he suddenly saw something and
stopped.

He looked over to his right.

Tara immediately followed his line of sight and only saw a few figures on the curved sidewalk. However,
the figures were all hidden by the greenery, so she could not see them at all. She asked him curiously,
“What are you looking at?” “It’s nothing. I was probably mistaken.” He thought, ‘That woman must still
be hiding somewhere. There’s no way she could be here.’ With that, he turned back and continued
walking forward. Tara hurriedly followed him. There were already quite a few people sitting in the

audience of the award ceremony venue. In addition to people from the Westchester City Art
Association, there were also famous artists who were invited to come to appreciate the paintings. The
Ledger and Ross couples, as well as other business celebrities, were also present. These people stood
up one after another when Odell and Tara came in.

Sonia was the first to run over excitedly and greet them. “Master Carter, Tara, good afternoon.

The way she called Tara was so sweet it was as if the latter was her sister.

Instantly, Odell frowned and glanced at Tara. Tara instantly noticed that something was wrong. Sylvia
had told Odell that Tara instigated Sonia, but she had forgotten about this. If she had known, she would
not have invited this fool, Sonia.

However, she soon regained her composure and looked at Sonia with a kind but distant expression.
“Hello, Sonia. I have to receive an award later, so I’ll catch up with you later.”

Then, she walked to the other side with her arm in Odell’s. After she walked away, she said to him,
“Odell, I met Sonia when I was still very close to Sylvia. I don’t know why she’s clinging to me instead
of Sylvia.” She said it in a joking tone. On one hand, it made her seem as if she liked Sonia more than
Sylvia, her own sister, thus belittling Sylvia. On the other hand, she also explained to Odell that she
was not that close with Sonia at all.

Odell pursed his lips and said nothing. Sonia, who was left behind, felt a little disappointed, but she did
not realize that Tara was deliberately distancing herself from her. Thus, she turned and walked back

On the other side, Bruce and Emmanuel could not help but approach them as well. Odell was the head
of Carter Corporation, so they naturally had to greet him.

The people in the Art Association mostly knew who Tara was. Odell had invested a lot in the Art
Association because of her, so they also got up and walked toward the couple. The crowd instantly
surged in one direction.
