Chapter 684

“What are you trying to say, Johanna?” Alarm bells started going off in his head when he heard the

topic Johanna brought up. “Are you doubting my love for you?”

Johanna scoffed. “Shouldn’t I?”

After Johanna fainted, Timothy had been worried for her the entire time. He even stayed at the hospital.

Sometimes he would spring up from the bed worried about Johanna. He could only sleep soundly with

her by his side.

I love her so much I wish I could take my heart out of my chest to show her how I felt. Yet, she’s

doubting me.

Timothy was furious. He slammed the door as he left her room.

He had a chat with the director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department during lunch and found

out that many factors could lead to postpartum depression in women. He figured Johanna was

overthinking things.

He was regretful about slamming the door like a child throwing a tantrum yet worried about Johanna.

That was why he wanted Genevieve to drop by Johanna’s room to check on her.

After her conversation with Timothy, Genevieve wheeled herself into Johanna’s room.

When she reached Johanna’s door, she saw Johanna doing a series of physiotherapy exercises.

Johanna hadn’t moved her legs when she was unconscious, but Timothy would take some time to

massage her legs every day.

Hence she didn’t have a hard time during her physiotherapy. She could even take a few slow steps.

She was surprised to scc Genevieve showing up in her room. “Hey, Genev. Didn’t Jack take you back

yesterday? Why are you still wearing a hospital gown?”

Johanna didn’t know Genevieve was hospitalized due to fever.

Genevieve wasn’t planning on telling Johanna about it since she didn’t want her to worry. She rolled

her wheelchair further into the room. “The doctor asked me to stay for a couple more days. That’s why

I’m here.”

“You’re right on time. Let me show you your future daughter-in-law.” Johanna had the nanny carry the

baby out from the nursery.

Genevieve carefully took the baby from the nanny’s hands.

A thick blanket swaddled the newborn, Asel. She had dark, lush hair and soft cheeks. Her cheeks were

so soft that nobody dared to touch them as they are afraid they might accidentally hurt her.

She got her eyes from Johanna. They were bright and sparkly like the stars.

Genevieve had seen Asel a few times before through video call. Now that she had the baby in her

arms, Asel’s adorable face softened her heart.

Asel liked Genevieve too. She couldn’t stop smiling at Genevieve.

Genevieve finally gave Asel back to the nanny after having her in her arms for a while. She reached for

Johanna’s hand and patted it gently. “Thank you for delivering such a

beautiful daughter-in-law for me.”

“You’re welcome,” Johanna answered with a smile.

The two took a seat in the small living room, and Genevieve told Johanna about the recording Jane

left.

Johanna narrowed her eyes and scoffed. “Now that there’s incriminating evidence on Sylvie’s homicide

and identity theft cases, she will be dead meat as we are not the only ones after her, but the Zeigler

family too.”

Herbert had been looking for his second daughter for his whole life. One could imagine his

disappointment and rage when he realized the granddaughter he found was an imposter.

Genevieve said impassively, “I’ll expose Sylvie in front of the Zeigler family, but leave her to me.”

Jane exchanged her life for this piece of evidence. I already promised myself I would let Sylvie have a

taste of her own medicine for what she did to Johanna.

Genevieve noticed the chamomile tea boiling, so she poured two cups of tea and handed one over to

Johanna. “Jojo, what happened between you and Timothy?”

Johanna took the cup of tea. “Did he say something to you?”

“No, he didn’t. He’s just worried about you having postpartum depression.” Genevieve continued, “You

can ask any of the nurses here, and they’ll tell you how worried he was for you when you were

unconscious. I agree that he was a bit of a jerk and irresponsible in the past, but he truly loves you.”

Johanna smiled. “I don’t have postpartum depression. I thought about it long and hard before I told him

we weren’t compatible. No, wait. It was me that wasn’t suitable for him. We were married for four years.

I’m well aware of his character. The person that he saw wasn’t the real me. I knew about the type of

woman he liked and did my best to ingratiate myself with him. After I have Asel, I realized I didn’t want

to care anymore. I just wanted to live my own life.”

Genevieve was shocked. “What kind of life are you talking about?”
