Su Huiqing left after receiving that call.
Her expression was grim when she turned to leave.
Yu Shijin was still sitting on the sofa. He put down the newspapers.
After being deep in thought for a second, he called Chu Xuning on the phone. “Where are you guys?”
“Master Yu, chief detective, the men and I are all guarding the borders of Green City. Our intelligence network detected that there were several groups of unidentified persons who had arrived at Green City. They all came from the International Association.” Chu Xuning reported succinctly. “I have already sent you the details.”
Yu Shijin’s eyes hardened. He stood up and instructed as he headed outside. “Have everyone gathered at the military base. I am going over now.”
He strode out the door after exchanging some greetings with Uncle Chen.
The information sent over by Chu Xuning was already on his cell phone.
After reading through it, his lowered eyes were sharp and hostile.
He put on his bluetooth earpiece and started the car.
“They also switched my grandpa’s medication.” Chu Xuning took a deep breath. “Master Yu, who the hell are these people?!”
For the first time in so many years, Chu Xuning felt useless and vulnerable.
Green City would be ravaged if they didn’t have Yu Shijin.
“Who are these people?” Yu Shijin gave a vicious laugh as he steered the car onto the highway. “They are just some folks who think that I am not in Green City, and so they can create havoc here.”
Unfortunately, those people never expected him to return so soon.
The weather today was not too good.
It was still sunny in the morning but started raining in the afternoon, a drizzle gradually turning into a downpour.
Su Huiqing sent a message to Yu Xiangyang: Hurry home now.
Today was Grandpa Yu’s birthday. Yu Xiangyang was sent by her to handle the military firearms with Su Chu. According to her estimates, he should be able to rush back by midday.
However, Su Huiqing received a phone call from the Yu Family that Grandpa Yu was missing!
Silence fell across the crowd.
Su Huiqing opened the car door.
The Su Family escort guards—half of them went with Su Chu to settle the military firearms, while the other half followed her here.
Gu Li and Qu Yan also rushed over on receiving the news.
A person held a black umbrella over her head.
It was supposed to be a joyous birthday celebration for the Yu Family, but the guest-of-honor Grandpa Yu was missing. All that was left behind was a puddle of blood and a dagger in the study. Everything had descended in chaos.
Someone had gone to the study to film a video for the occasion, only to discover the terrible scene.
The Yu Family was in a complete fluster and failed to control the crowd.
Su Huiqing brought over a bunch of people to manage the situation.
The guests were all people in positions of high power, and would never stand for being rounded up in this manner.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you try to stop me?” One person bustled forward arrogantly, trying to force his way out.
Su Huiqing lifted her eyes. Her usual nonchalance was nowhere in sight, instead her face was cold and stony.
She didn’t have time to waste explaining, and so just drew out a weapon from her pocket and pointed the gun straight at the person’s temple. “Be obedient if you wish to live.”
Following that, the escort guards who had come with her all drew out their weapons.
The firearms were those she had traded with Apollo.
“Today is a joyous celebration so I don’t wish to see any blood. The Su Family will personally apologize after the investigation is completed.” She put down her weapon when she saw that the person had backed down.
She then turned and glanced at Father Yu. “Lead me upstairs.”
It was broad daylight. How did Grandpa Yu disappear?
There was no way Su Huiqing would believe there was no treachery involved.
Upstairs in the study.
Su Huiqing surveyed the room. It was in a complete mess. She saw the dagger driven all the way into the wall.
“Has anyone touched this?” Su Huiqing looked at Father Yu.
Su Huiqing was still a fresh and youthful high school student the previous time she visited the Yu Family residence.
This time, she had morphed into a fiercely capable female mercenary. Father Yu was beyond shocked. “No, I didn’t allow anyone to enter.”
Su Huiqing nodded. She reached out and easily plucked the dagger from the wall.
There was a piece of paper attached to the dagger.
Su Huiqing opened it and read the note with lowered eyes. She then pulled her hood over her head and shoved her hands into her pockets. “You guys wait here. We will go find Grandpa Yu.”
Just as they prepared to leave, Yu Xiangyang rushed up the stairs.
Father Yu wanted to ask what could this bunch of half-grown kids do?
But before he could say anything, he saw Yu Xiangyang easily leaping off from the second floor onto the first, before agilely hopping into Su Huiqing’s car. His smooth and athletic movements were completely different from the son he knew.
He then turned and observed the few escort guards whom Su Huiqing had left behind. They each wielded a long-barreled gun, keeping everyone in the hall firmly in check.
They looked extremely confident and formidable.
Su Huiqing distributed communication devices to her men, before putting on her own earpiece.
Very early on, Grandpa Yu had revealed the link between the Yu Family and the International Association.
Ever since, she had been making the necessary preparations—firearms, the escort guards, as well as enhancing the powers of Yu Xiangyang and the gang.
But things had developed faster than she expected.
“Qingqing, which family from the International Association are we fighting against this time?” Qu Yan asked gravely.
Su Huiqing gazed at the rain on the other side of the car window. Her brows were straight and resolute. “It’s not just one particular family.”
That’s right. Apart from the family who had been targeting the Yu Family, there was also Yu Shijin.
Su Huiqing didn’t know what role would Yu Shijin play in this situation.
But she would never let off the bunch of people who had kidnapped Grandpa Yu. She would never just hand off those folks to Yu Shijin or the International Association.
He had to consider Green City and the International Association, while she only cared about the Yu Family.
It was inevitable the two of them would be standing on opposing sides this time.
So she had no choice but to face off Yu Shijin.
The car arrived at their destination.
Su Huiqing tugged at her hood and alighted.
The black umbrella opened above her head, sending a flurry of water droplets to the surroundings.
Yu Shijin didn’t know what Su Huiqing was thinking about now. He narrowed his eyes on the chief detective. “Did you say that national route 13 suddenly collapsed?
Chief detective nodded.
Yu Shijin didn’t speak again, but just watched the video footage sent over.
From the image of that wreckage, it was clearly not caused by any natural disaster.
No matter how he looked at it, the style of the destruction looked somewhat familiar.
Yu Shijin lowered his eyes as his long finger swipe the screen. After a moment, he suddenly chuckled.
Inside the International Association, nearly everyone bemoaned the fact that it was impossible to have two mighty leaders coexisting peacefully.
But unexpectedly, these two kings would be facing off for the first time—under another identity and another method.
