Chapter 18: Major Depression

The bodyguards rushed in, and Zac was quickly transported to the hospital for medical help.

Edith thanked God profusely at that point.

‘I'm afraid she would have been strangled alive if Zac hadn't had a sudden chest pain at that moment’
Thaddeus thought.

Thaddeus hadn't expected things to turn out this way.

Originally, he just wanted to encourage his son to avenge Sophie in order to give him some reason to
live.

He was overly emotional and his health was in a poor state.

But who could have predicted that he would be struck by chest pains? The doctor advised Thaddeus
that Zac should avoid feeling extreme emotions in the future, or his heart might fail.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people suffer from a heart attack.

Even if they are young, they cannot abuse their bodies in this way.

Thaddeus was shocked.

He only had one son, Zac.

What would he do if something went wrong with Zac? The Williams family was dreadful.

The daughters in that family caused Zac so much pain that he nearly died.

Fearing that something would happen again, Thaddeus would do nothing to deliberately anger Zac.

Still, he would instead relive him of his troubles.

Anything that would get on Zac's nerves was not to be revealed.

Everything that was related to Robert's two daughters would not be mentioned.

Thaddeus would keep anything related to Williams’ family out if Zac's eyes from now on.

Thaddeus reasoned it would help Zac if he removed emotional triggers.

Unfortunately, Zac's situation was even worse.

He did, in fact, become much calmer, no longer furious.

He was, however, deafeningly silent, like a pool of lifeless, stagnant water.

Every day, he moved like a walking corpse, step by step, but he refused to speak or communicate with
others.

Everything he ate, he would just spit out in whole.

Thaddeus was also disturbed because his son was being tortured.

Zac had been diagnosed with major depression.

The doctor said his mood needed to improve or else he would cut to kill himself one day if his situation
worsened.

No one ever mentioned Sophie in his presence again, and he seemed to forget about her.

Zac felt he should forget about her, which was the best solution.

He wasn't a heartless person.

His father's hair was almost entirely white because of him.

He had failed miserably as a husband.

He no longer wanted to be a disobedient and unfaithful son.

He needed to forget her.

If they couldn't be together, it would be pointless for him to still have a soft spot for Sophie.

If they could meet again in the next life, Zac would go to great lengths to beg for her forgiveness.

He had promised himself that he would get over her as soon as possible, and he would keep her in his
memories.

‘But how easy is it to forget if you really wanted to?' Zac wondered.

The more you wanted to forget, the more memorable it became.

As a result, Zac led a life that allowed him to sleep peacefully by consuming alcohol and
antidepressants daily.

His nerves can be paralyzed by alcohol, and antidepressants can temporarily allow his brain to produce
happiness and hope.

Zac occasionally overdoses on antidepressants, and he even had hallucinations where he saw Sophie
again.

Only at this point he would not spit out the food he ate.Sophie would still be in front of him in the
illusion.

She'd talk to him and smile at him.

She'd kiss and hug him.

Only then would he smile.

But each time he woke up, Zac felt even more empty.

He drowned so deeply in emptiness and despair that he lived in self contradictory.

He either failed to move on or tried to commit suicide.

Zac couldn't take medicines because of the circumstances.

‘‘At this rate, I'm not sure how long Zac would live’’ Thaddeus thought.

Thaddeus was exhausted from dealing with everything.

Seeing his son's predicament, he devised a plan to have Edith act as Sophie's body double to comfort
Zac, since they were twins.

Edith and Sophie had such a similar appearance that Edith could pass for with the help of microplastic
surgery and make up.

Edith couldn't afford to turn down Thaddeus’ request.

She was forced to undergo microplastic surgery and physique training to resemble Sophie.

After everything, when she looked in the mirror, Edith wondered if she was Sophie or Edith.

Clearly, it was Sophie who died.

But why did Edith have the impression that she was the one who was forced to disappear? Except for
their voices, the appearance and movement are very similar.

Thaddeus felt powerless.

Edith's voice is slightly hoarse and a little wild and sexy, while her sisters’ voice is completely different.

Sophie had a pure, sweet, and gentle voice.

Anyone could tell the difference between the two when they talk.

So he told Edith to be quiet and not make any noise when she approached Zac! As a result, Zac
dreamed frequently.
