Chapter 903 Will You Exchange Yourself for Melissa?

Prev Chapter Next Chapter

"Mom, dad?"

When Nicole heard the voice of her adoptive parents, she was dumbfounded.

She looked at the caller ID again and confirmed that it was them. Before she could heave a sigh of
relief, she heard Mrs. Bush crying, "Nicole, you must save Melissa. Please save her."

"Mom, don't cry. What's wrong? What happened to Melissa?"

From Nicole's point of view, Melissa would at most offend someone when learning violin. As long as
she was in Seapolis City, she could help.

When Mrs. Bush heard Nicole's question, she cried harder.

"Nicole, a person called Elvis went to our home and took Melissa. He asked to exchange you for
Melissa, otherwise he will kill her. Nicole, Elvis is Samuel's father, isn't he? You are his daughter-in-law
and he won't hurt you. Please exchange yourself for Melissa, will you? I only have one daughter! I've
missed her life for so many years and just found her recently, I can't live without her! "

When Nicole heard these words, she was shocked.

"Mom, did you know that I was stabbed?"

Mrs. Bush's crying abruptly stopped when hearing this, and then she awkwardly asked, "Are you
alright?"

Hearing her words, Nicole was a little hurt.

The news of her being stabbed had long since been released. Everyone had visited her expect her
adoptive parents yet they called her for Melissa.

Just ignore the reason why Elvis took Melissa, why did they think that she would voluntarily exchange
herself for Melissa after being stabbed?

Was a biological daughter different to an adopted one?

She was the child that they had raised for more than twenty years. Did the love they had for her in the
past was fake?

Nicole's heart was hurt again.

However, she said indifferently, "I'm seriously injured and can't get up. Do you really want me to
exchange for Melissa even like this? I'd like to correct you that although Elvis is Samuel's dad, he is
incompatible with him. He even wishes to kill me. If I go over, he might kill me as well to vent his anger.
Are you sure you want me to do that?"

Hearing this, Mrs. Bush cried even more sadly.

"Then what should I do? How can I save Melissa? Why is my life so bitter? Oh, my poor daughter!"

Mrs. Bush cried in hysteria. Although she no longer forced Nicole, her words were still like a sharp
dagger that was stabbing Nicole's heart.

"Mom, what else did he say?"

"That's all. Nicole, your biological parents are influential. Can you ask them to help bring Melissa back?
I have never asked you for anything, but I'm begging you this time, okay?"

Nicole was suffocated by her mother's words.

When had the relationship between them become like this?

"Alright, I'll try my best."

Nicole hung up and realized that she was tearful.

She was so sad!

Utterly sad!

If only Samuel was here.

She urgently needed Samuel's embrace, but she couldn't contact him.

Nicole dialed again, but he was still not in the service area.

Out of service?

Was he on a plane?

Or on his way back?

Nicole never expected that she would miss someone so much.

She couldn't sleep anymore.

She leaned against the bed and curled up with her phone in her arms like an injured kitten, but no one
saw that.

Time passed. Nicole did not know how long she had been sitting there, but she finally made a decision.

She disliked Melissa, but that woman was everything to her adoptive parents.

Since Mrs. Bush had begged her, even though she was sad and heartbroken, she couldn't bear to let
her adoptive parents down. She picked up the phone and called Jason.

"Jason, Elvis took Melissa away. Can you please try finding her?"

"Melissa? Alright, on it. Nicole, you are pregnant. Stay inside. Leave this to me. I'll handle it."

"Thank you."

Because of Jason's words, Nicole's cold heart was warmed up.

Not long after Nicole put down her phone, the phone rang again.

She glanced at it. It was Samuel.

Nicole quickly picked up the call.

"Samuel, where are you?"

"I just arrived at Seapolis City Airport. I was on the plane when you called. My phone might have died
earlier. Nicole, I can't go back for the time being. I have to go to the military region and the police
station."

Samuel told Nicole about his whereabouts.

When Nicole heard that he was fine, she calmed down. Knowing that he had something important to
do, she said, "Focus on your task, don't worry about me."

"How could I? Are you in the military compound now? Elvis ran away. I know about this matter and his
research base was destroyed by us. Elvis is like a mad dog. No matter what he says, don't go out,
alright? "

Samuel sounded to be in a hurry. It could be heard that he was afraid that Nicole would be kidnapped
by Elvis.

Nicole did not dare to tell him that Elvis had kidnapped Melissa, and that Mrs. Bush wanted her to be
the hostage, she just said, "Alright, I'll do what you said."

"Wait for me."

After hanging up, Samuel went to the military region with his men.

Nicole looked at the call record on the phone and had a mixed feeling.

If she ignored Melissa, with Elvis' personality, Melissa would definitely be killed.

She scratched her hair irritably and suddenly thought of Lucas. Perhaps only her son could help her.

Nicole turned on her computer and contacted Lucas.

"Lucas, Mommy needs your help."

"Is it about Melissa?"

Lucas replied quickly.

Nicole was surprised, but she still told him.

"Mommy, Melissa will be fine. You don't have to worry about her."

"What do you mean?"

Nicole was puzzled.

Lucas sent over a report.

"Take a good look at this report. I knew what grandmother meant when Jason asked me to help find
Elvis' whereabouts. Mommy, are you sick of grandma doing this? Don't care about it. Leave this matter
to Jason. You need a good rest. I heard that Samuel has returned and is heading towards the military

region. He may have something important to do. Mommy, just wait for him to return and leave
everything else to others, or you can turn off your phone to have a peaceful world."

Lucas said so much in one breath. Nicole did not expect that her son would have more information than
she did.

"Alright."

Nicole received the document sent by Lucas, opened it and frowned.

Melissa was indeed an orphan, but she had received Elvis' sponsorship. Elvis also instructed her to
meet her parents.

So Melissa was on Elvis' side?

Nicole put down her phone with a heavy heart.

Elvis had really put in a lot of effort for that data sheet. He would not let anyone who could be used go.

Did the Bushes know about this?

Nicole was not sure.

She wanted to ask them, but in the end, she resisted such an idea.

Whether Mr. and Mrs. Bush knew it or not, they might think that it was reasonable to use Nicole to save
their daughter, but Nicole felt uncomfortable about this.

She turned off her phone.

She needed some peace.

When Audrey knocked on the door and entered, Nicole was standing barefoot in the French window
and looking outside. She looked a little absent-minded.

She took a coat and draped it over Nicole's shoulder.

"Why aren't you wearing shoes? You have a baby, and you can't catch a cold."

Only then did Nicole realize that there was another person in the room.

She put on her slippers, then smiled, pulled Audrey and sat down with her.

"Mom, don't you think I'm a bit cold-blooded?"

"What do you mean?"

This was the first time Audrey had heard Nicole describe herself like that.

Nicole told Audrey about what happened in the Bushes.

Audrey was enraged.

"What the hell? I know they raised you and you are grateful to them, but they can't push you into a trap!
I need to talk to them."

Audrey was so angry that she was about to stand up but was stopped by Nicole.

"Mom, don't go. You will get furious if you do. Out of sight, out of mind. Lucas gave me a document
showing that Melissa was on Elvis' side, so Elvis would not do anything to her. Samuel has returned. I
believe if he works together with Lucas, they will soon find Elvis and at that time, Melissa can go home.
Lucas told me to turn off the phone and forget about these things. I've done so."

As Nicole spoke, she raised the phone in her hand that had been turned off and smiled.

However, Audrey could tell that Nicole's smile was filled with sadness and bitterness.

"I'm sorry, it's my fault. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be in such an awkward situation."

"It's all over. Aren't we good now? If you can't get over it, just stay alive and watch your grandson's birth
and help take care of him."

What Nicole said was too beautiful, making Audrey yearn for it.

"I'll try my best."

"Yeah!"

Nicole hugged Audrey and felt the warmth of her love. She whispered, "Mom, I'm tired. I want some
sleep. No matter who it is, keep them out, okay?"

"Alright. I will be here with you."

Audrey sat by the bed and watched as Nicole got into bed and lay down. Soon after, she fell asleep
with stable breathing.

Looking at Nicole's exhausted face, Audrey suddenly felt that she should do something for her
daughter.

She had never done anything for Nicole since her childhood. Now that she was about to die, it would
be too late if she didn't take action, wouldn't it?

Thinking of this, Audrey got up and picked up the phone.
