Chapter 1350 How Dare She?

Prev Chapter Next Chapter

Ever since coming to Country F, Samuel had been cold towards Phoenix. She felt aggrieved.

She didn't do anything but let go of her hand. If it weren't Nicole's provocation, how could it be like this?

Nicole was so cunning!

Phoenix glared at Nicole with some resentment.

Nicole naturally knew what Phoenix was thinking. She gave Samuel a nudge and said with a smile, "I
told you I'm hungry. But what are you looking at Phoenix for? Are you waiting for her to cook for me?"

It sounded like a joke, but Phoenix could hardly bear it.

This cunning fox actually wanted her to cook?

How dare she?

However, Samuel mistook that Nicole wanted to try Phoenix's cooking, so he said softly, "Phoenix is
indeed a good cook. I miss her cooking too. I wonder if we'd have the luck this time."

Phoenix was filled with mixed feelings.

She had learned cooking for Samuel and was very willing to cook for him. But now, it was obvious that
it was for Nicole. Phoenix was jealous but she couldn't refuse.

"Mr. Green, anytime for you."

"It's for Nicole."

Samuel stressed 'Nicole'.

Ever since she entered the door, Phoenix had ignored Nicole like she wasn't there. She wouldn't
recognize Nicole.

He didn't want to push her, but Nicole was innocent.

She didn't know anything and never did wrong. Why should she pay for her kindness to him?

Phoenix gritted her teeth and forced a smile.

"Okay, if that's what Nicole wants. I'll cook right away."

Then she left.

Helen was a little surprised. In this palace, no one had ever dared to treat the princess like this, and
she would not degrade herself for anyone, until this man showed up whom Phoenix tried hard to
please. Helen couldn't help but glance at Samuel as she tried to catch up with Phoenix.

"Princess, let me do it. You shouldn't bother."

"It's alright. Didn't you hear him? Mr. Green wants to eat the food I cook. You can help me."

Phoenix had already adjusted her state of mind and even felt a bit of joy.

As long as it was about Samuel, she would do anything. She could just pretend that woman wasn't
there.

Seeing how things went, Nicole sighed quietly and said to Samuel, "Did you do it on purpose? You
know that's not what I mean."

"She should have a good attitude towards you. You are my wife. This is an unchangeable fact."

Samuel was being honest because he did not want to keep secrets from Nicole.

Yanice was surprised. Nicole had told her about the matter between him and Phoenix. She didn't
expect that Samuel would defend his wife against someone who had helped him a great deal.
However, Samuel did not seem to care. He was so protective towards Nicole and wouldn't let her suffer
any grievances.

Yanice was a little envious of such a relationship.

She couldn't help but think of William.

William had always been a gentleman to her in the past. She still remembered that on that School Day
they went climbing and she had sprained her ankle. It was William who carried her all the way down the
mountain.

At that time, William did not know her identity and his gentleness had conquered her. Even if William
knew who she was later, he didn't treat her differently and never fawned on her like other men, which
had made her cherish this relationship even more.

But he didn't felt the same about her.

He had fallen in love with someone else.

If the person he fell in love with was her, would she be as happy as Nicole?

Yanice would never know. She felt great pain that she wanted to cry. She was probably too old for this
kind of romance.

"I'll go back to my room to rest. Call me when meal's ready, alright?"

Yanice coughed and left with the maid.

Nicole had noticed the loneliness in Yanice's eyes. She could not help but ask, "Is she alright?"

"Nothing. Perhaps she's tired."

Samuel glanced at her and smiled faintly. He probably knew why, but love was never predictable.

Yanice and William were just not for each other. Nothing could be done about it. Even after so many
years, Sally was still his only love and he always wanted her good even if he wasn't himself.

Their relationship had withstood the test of time. If possible, Samuel hoped that they could be together
forever.

Seeing that Samuel was distracted, Nicole pinched his waist, causing Samuel to frown in pain.

"Darling, this is domestic violence."

"Then sue me!"

Nicole glanced at him. Of course he didn't have the heart to sue her.

"I won't sue you, but you won't get away so easily."

As he spoke, Samuel laid his hand on Nicole's body, but she slapped it off.

"Cut it out. You haven't answered me. Did you do it on purpose?"

"Didn't you already know the answer?"

Samuel felt that Nicole was a bit hard on him but in a lovely way.

Nicole was depressed.

"You're making her hate me. This is the first time we've met. Can't you let us get along peacefully?"

"Get along? Honey, I am not blind. What about that shaking just now? She was trying to embarrass
you. How can I do nothing about it? I don't care who she is. She should show some respect to you."

Samuel said indignantly, which comforted Nicole.

"Stop trying to fool me. You were afraid I'd hurt her, right?"

"Why can't you ease up on me, darling?"

Samuel whined.

Nicole pursed her lips and almost burst out laughing. The unhappiness caused by Phoenix earlier
quickly dissipated.

After the two sat down, someone stepped forward to make tea.

Nicole looked around and whispered, "I heard that Trevin is here. Where is he now? Can I go see
him?"

"I'll go with you afterwards. Trevin is my man now. It's safer for you to go with me."

Because there were maids around, Samuel could not speak too plainly, but Nicole understood what he
meant.

"Alright."

Talking with a sip of tea once in a while, they both felt relaxed and looked harmonious.

When Phoenix found out they were having a good time, she was irritated.

How scheming she was!

She must be showing off.

Showing off Samuel's love and protection towards her.

Phoenix's eyes suddenly turned cold.

Helen had guessed something from their conversation moments ago. And she naturally knew what
Phoenix was thinking at the moment, she has known her for years.

"Princess, do you want to put something in the dishes? No one would notice."

In the palace, this kind of thing was not uncommon. It was too easy to kill a person.

Phoenix almost agreed but decided against it when she thought of Samuel's care and resolution in his
eyes. Her last bit of reason triumphed over jealousy.

"No. I will compete with that woman honestly and make her leave Mr. Green voluntarily. I wouldn't use
such dirty tricks."

Phoenix's words stunned Helen.

No one was clean in this palace.

Moreover, Phoenix had never been a man of integrity. She must really love Samuel to say this.

Helen understood and didn't say anything else. She quietly retreated to the side to help with cooking.

This meal had taken exactly one hour.

Nicole took time to drink her tea and later leaned against Samuel to take a nap. When Phoenix brought
the food, Nicole was still asleep.

"Be quiet!"

Samuel gestured for Phoenix to keep quiet and kept sitting there motionlessly. Nicole was leaning
against his shoulder and sleeping soundly.

Phoenix didn't like what she saw.

She didn't like Nicole's sleeping face, nor her leaning against Samuel, nor Samuel's affection in his
eyes, despite the inconvenience.

This was a scene that she had dreamed of, but she was not in it.

However, Samuel had asked her not to make a sound. She could only hold back her jealousy.

At this moment, sounds of firecrackers came from outside.

Which waked Nicole up.

"Are you scared?"

Samuel hurriedly patted Nicole's back as if she was a child.

Phoenix had known Samuel long but had never seen him being so tender.

She was stunned.

However, Nicole shook her head and asked, "Why do they set off firecrackers in broad daylight? What
day is it?"

"Today is our National Day."

Phoenix was very dissatisfied with Nicole's ignoring her and she sounded angry.

Only then did Nicole realize where they were right now, with her rival standing in front of her.

So she gathered herself, sat up and said with a smile, "Sorry, I'm too tired. I had a nap. How are you?
Are you alright? Why don't you wake me up?"

Nicole glared at Samuel coquettishly.

Samuel smiled and said, "It's fine. But I can't feel my waist. You have to give me a massage later."

These words sounded somewhat flirty. Nicole blushed.

However, as far as Phoenix was concerned, what she saw assured herself that Nicole was nothing
more than a pretty face with dirty tricks.
