Gloria’s brow furrowed as she watched Jordy settle into the driver’s seat with a scowl and rev the
engine.

Jordy was silent, and his face took on a set expression. He looked like he concentrated on his driving

Gloria pressed her lips together. “My car is over there. Drop me off when you get to the corner.”

It’s on his way home. We’re going in the same direction.

My car is parked near the alley.

Jordy, who was driving, didn’t respond to her.

But… as Jordy drove, Gloria realized that he wasn’t following the right path at all.

She turned to him. “Where are you going?”

Jordy ignored her and drove on with a cold face. He did not even turn to her for once.

The car went further down the road, and Gloria finally realized where it was heading for.

She pressed her lips together and lapsed into silence.

was sure Karen saw it. She’d better drop by and say hello.

After all, Karen cared about her the most in the world.

Gloria heaved a deep sigh, and for once she had no intention of asking any further questions.



Soon, they arrived the Collins’ house.

Jordy pulled over and unbuckled his seat belt without saying anything to Gloria.

He was still mad about what was trending on

Twitter.

Gloria didn’t even bother to guess why he was in a bad mood.

After all, it had nothing to do with her. Besides, he was volatile. Who cared?

Gloria remained silent and got out of the car.

Before she could get inside the house, she found the door wide open. There stood Karen with a
worried face, saying, “Come! Let me see your face, Gloria. Did you get scared?”

Karen’s tender voice and gentle face made Gloria’s heart melt.

Gloria quickly said, “Karen, I’m alright. The police came in time.”

Jordy’s eyes flashed with irony. He walked over to the couch and sat down.

Karen took Gloria’s hands and examined them carefully, refusing to let go.

“Did those punks hit you? Gloria, be careful next time! I’m so worried about you if no one protects you.”

Karen’s voice sounded extremely worried.

Gloria smiled and shook her head. “I’m fine.”



“No, you’re not! You were in danger today. They’re bastards!” Karen said angrily and then looked at
Jordy. “Did you tell the police that we the Collins family would offer them our full support?”

Gloria’s eyelashes futtered. No wonder Jordy said that at the police station. It was Karen who told him
to say so.

Jordy nodded. “Of course, I did. You told me to.”

Jordy was sitting on the couch, calm and silent.

Karen pulled Gloria towards the couch. “You poor thing, you must have been very scared. I’ve asked

the kitchen to make you some soup.”

Gloria felt warm, smiled, and nodded. “Thank you.”

“Oh, don’t mention it. Are you still in shock? Gloria, are you sure you’re okay? Don’t lie to me.”

Jordy said sarcastically, “She’s a taekwondo expert. She beat the crap out of those thugs. How could
she freak out?”
