She Left Without a Word

“Give me back my phone!”

Nydia sounded displeased. She didn’t like it when someone was going through her phone without
permission. This was Gloria’s message to her.

It was a good thing that Gloria didn’t badmouth Jordy. If she did, Nydia would be the one to blame.

Nydia snatched her phone back. Jordy looked dour and quickly stepped outside without saying
anything.

George hurried forward and said, “Where are you going?”

Nydia frowned and sensed that something was not quite right. Jordy left in a fury, his face set. Was he
going to find Gloria?

At this thought, Nydia became worried.

“Is he going to find Gloria? Jordy has some unfinished business here, doesn’t he? I’ll go look for her!”

Nydia was afraid if Jordy went after Gloria, something bad would happen. When George heard Nydia
saying she had to leave, he glowered sullenly.

“Let me give you a ride.”

Hearing this, Nydia had mixed feelings. The two of them had just quarreled yesterday, but today
George offered to give her a ride. It was pretty obvious that he was trying to please her. Nydia was a
grateful person. She hesitated for a moment and then spoke softly.

“No need, I’ll get a cab.”



“It takes time. You have to wait. Jordy is much faster than you. Without me, you can’t find Gloria before
he does.”

Nydia fell silent. He’s got a point there.

“Pack up and leave.”

With that, George went back to his bedroom. Afraid to say anything else, Nydia began to pack her
things. When she finished, George was sitting at the kitchen table.

Nydia was surprised to find breakfast still laid on the table.

When Nydia was a little anxious, George was trying to be helpful. Skipping breakfast was not good for
his health. After a moment’s hesitation, Nydia came over and heard George’s voice.

“Eat before we go.”

Nydia said nothing and sat down across from George. She was upset and worried when she thought of
the wound on Gloria’s back. Instead of saying anything about it, she just took a few bites of food.

George finished his food very quickly. Later, they set off after breakfast.

Nydia was worried about Gloria the whole way, but she couldn’t talk to George about it. Nydia called
Gloria, but she didn’t pick up. Instead, Gloria sent her a WhatsApp message.

It said that Nydia didn’t have to worry about her.

But how could Nydia not be worried?

Nydia messaged Gloria back since the call didn’t get through.



Nydia said, “Why did you leave without saying goodbye? You sent me a text message in the middle of
the night after you left, didn’t you? What happened? Why did you leave alone?”

Gloria said, “There was a little accident yesterday. And I really have something urgent to deal with
today.”

Nydia asked, “Are you there now?”

Nydia stared at her phone, waiting for Gloria’s message. Later, Gloria sent her location to Nydia. Nydia
was relieved to learn that Gloria was home.

George, who was driving, looked at Nydia from time to time. Seeing that she heaved a sigh of relief, he
whispered, “You got in touch with her?”

“Yes, I did. She’s alright.”

“Where is she?” Nydia asked while driving.
